In my experience Dragon*Con has reigned supreme as the cosplayers' heaven. The costumes at Comic Con have always seemed lackluster in comparison. Some of the pictures coming out of this year's San Diego Convention, however, are stunning.

There are some pretty amazing things going on with the new 3-megapixel camera in the latest generation iPhone. With images this good, it's only the lack of a flash that will keep me from leaving my pocket Canon camera at home. We are perilously close to the all-in-one cell-phone/pocket camera that really serves all needs.

Nikon D3 sports an amazingly high ISO setting

The bane of any halfway serious photographer is shooting in natural light that's too low to quite support your camera's ability to pull that light in and capture sharp images. My Canon Rebel XT does OK with an ISO setting that maxes out at 1600 (most consumer film sells with ISO ratings of 100 - 400), but the new Nikon D3 tops out at ISO 6400.
