The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

If you're reading this blog you're probably perfectly familiar with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which started out as a radio play, was adapted to a series of books, filmed as a TV series, and even took a turn as an Infocom computer game before finally being made a big budget Hollywood movie. As a big budget Hollywood movie the new Hitchhiker's eschews the long conversations of the books for visual gags and spectacular effects sequences. It's still pretty funny, and I particularly enjoyed a long sequence original to the movie where our heroes visit the Vogsphere, home of the Vogons. Everything is grey and square and perfectly suited to bureaucracy. There are some clever little touches, like Marvin from TV series appearing in one scene. Not a great movie, but enjoyable enough.
