Brokeback Mountain
"For the last time, there was no cowboy in the Village People. Why do you keep asking me that?"
As you may have heard, Brokeback Mountain is the GAY COWBOY movie. It's about GAY COWBOYS. At least, that's more or less the only thing you'll hear about the film. GAY COWBOYS.
It's also an Ang Lee film, and like most of Lee's film it's a beautifully composed valentine to whatever genre he's working in.
The biggest surprise for me was Heath Ledger. I quite honestly never associated him with... what's that stuff actors are supposed to do? Oh yeah, acting. But in Brokeback Mountain Ledger creates a completely believable character that's like nothing I've seen him play before.
