The Nipple Slip Seen 'Round The World (Super Bowl XXXVIII)

I didn't think I could let the little peep show at this year's Super Bowl go unmentioned. It was just so bizarre.

Was it intentional or not? I think it's pretty clear by this point that removing some of Janet Jackson's clothing was in the plan, though it being as graphic as it turned out was an accident. You'd think that if anyone would know that not all publicity is good publicity, it would be a member of the Jackson family.

What really concerns me most is what a big deal is being made about this. On TV, it was like seeing Ms. Jackson (Yeah, I'm nasty) from something like a hundred feet away. You could tell she had a breast, but that's about it. Yet Michael Powell, head of the FCC, has basically promised to keep this one incident on the front pages for the immediate future. Goody. In the end everybody will be contrite in the face of the FCC, and Janet Jackson will get a bunch of publicity for her album.
