World Poker Tour (Celebrity Edition)

Sunday night I tried to watch the World Poker Tour special on the Travel Channel featuring celebrities like Fred Savage and Drew Carey. I didn't watch much of it. I know that poker shows are very popular now, but I don't think they're for me. I quickly got annoyed by the incessant narration.

First up disembodied voices explained the game, which was Texas Hold 'Em. Hold 'Em is a pretty simple game, but the narrators twice told us that it "takes a minute to learn, a lifetime to master." Was poker invented by Mattel?

Then the narrators proceeded to analyze every single "play," no matter how trivial. One player was dealt a two and three of hearts, then folded when the flop was all black cards. The narrators were winded from talking about this. Guys, that wasn't a "play," that was someone who knew their ass from a hole in the ground.

If I'm going to watch people play poker, I want to watch them play. Especially in a game like Hold 'Em it isn't the exact cards that are dealt that are important, but how the players interact with each other. But the narration was continuing over any talking the players were doing, so I gave up.
