Lost (Episode 3, "Tabula Rasa")

Lost (ABC, Wednesdays at 8) continues to be interesting. It’s obvious this can be a slow burn, because nearly nothing happens in this episode, though a big chunk of Kate’s background gets filled in. The continuing mystery was stated by Merry at the end of the second episode: “Where are we?” The monster was only hinted at in this episode, and there was an aborted discussion of where the plane might have been geographically when it crashed, though no one has yet asked why the pilot took them so far off course without informing the passengers. Perhaps the most interesting development is that the little kid named Walt (Malcolm David Kelley) yet again displayed the apparent power to change their environment. He was looking at a comic book with a polar bear in the second episode, and later a real polar bear appeared. In this episode his father told him that he would go look for their dog when the rain stopped, and the rain stopped immediately. Meanwhile Locke (Terry O’Quinn) continues to sit on the beach and look enigmatic.

Luckily the show has pretty visuals and good dialogue so I’m willing to wait for the mystery to unfold.

"Okay, but what if I was the last person left on earth?"
