Reborn from Hell: Samurai Armageddon

Reborn from Hell: Samurai Armageddon (1999) is a sleazy little samurai flick about Jubei Yagyu fighting a bunch of famous warriors who have been reincarnated, or reborn if you prefer, by an evil sorcerer looking to bring about the end of the world, or armageddon if you prefer. It's a cheap film with lazy fight choreography and some laughably bad special effects. The ending is at least interesting, however. Jubei squares off with the legendary Musashi Miyamoto on the same beach where Musashi dueled with Kojiro years before. Basically they recreate the scene as portrayed in the famous Samurai trilogy starring Toshiro Mifune. But beyond that, there isn't much to recommend Reborn from Hell. If you do insist on seeing it be sure to rent Reborn from Hell II: Jubei's Revenge at the same time. The first film doesn't have a satisfying conclusion and leaves a major plot about Jubei's father dangling.
