Fun With Google Earth

A beta of Google Earth for the Mac was leaked a couple weeks back, so i finally got to see what PC people have been raving about. It doesn't run very well on my out-of-date iMac, but I have had some fun with the bird's eye view the program affords.

Here's an area near where I live.

That big white circle is Tropicana Field, where the Tampa Bay Devil Rays play, if you want to call what they do "playing." But what's that in the parking lot? Here's a closer view:

No, that isn't Tim Burton's house. It's the Cirque du Soleil. They have a portable show that plays here for a few weeks.

It also means that's got to be a fairly recent image. That tent is there right now, and has only been there for about a month. But if I track a few blocks down the street I can tell that the images must be a couple years old because major developments are missing. I wonder how Google decides when to update the images they use for their composites?
