Scott's Random Thought for the Day (Japanese Trailers)

Every now and then I like to check out Japan's Apple Quicktime site and see what kind of trailers the Japanese are getting.

Kill Bill, Vol. 2

Not that much different than the American trailer, except for the slogan "Kill is Love."

Casshern

A very pretty looking sci-fi epic, based on the old cartoon Robot Hunter Casshan. I hope that the movie has a plot and characters to match the visuals.

Legend of Mexico

The Japanese title of Once Upon a Time in Mexico, starring "Willem Defor."

Devilman

Based on the manga. This trailer has been out for a while. The special effects look very cartoony.

Appleseed

Another movie based on a manga, but this time using 3D animation tweaked to look like cel animation. This movie looks awesome. The story line looks like the second volume of the manga, which was the most exciting and the least bogged down in politics.

GeGe

I'm glad to see that the Japanese are trying not to fall too far behind us when it comes to weepy technology.

Swing Girls

It's Brassed Off meets Drumline... in Japan!

Steamboy

Trailers for this are on Columbia Tristar DVDs in the States, so it shouldn't be too long before we see this.

God * Diva

All the weird French films seem to go to Japan.

Brotherhood

This looks like a Korean remake of Bullet in the Head.

Crimson Rivers 2

A French supernatural thriller. Crimson Rivers was actually released in the U.S., though I haven't seen it. I love the bit with a guy getting stabbed to death in a supermarket. "Cleanup in aisle four!'
