Scott's Random Thought For The Day (Needful Things)

There's a store in Pinellas Park that sells used CDs and DVDs called Sound Exchange, but I call them Needful Things. I call them this because I have found many great deals and obscure movies there I wouldn't have expected to find anywhere. Sound Exchange is where I found my copies of the Something Weird DVDs The Mad Butcher and Goliath and the Dragon, for $12 each. I found a copy of the limited edition of Army of Darkness there for $20, and sold it on eBay the next day for $75, and I found a copy of the out of print edition of Bride of Re-Animator for $10. And I bought the R2 box set of Katsuhiro's Otomo's Memories there for $12. That retailed for around $100 in Japan, more as an import. Sometimes I find deals there so good I suspect I'm going to take a DVD up to the counter and the clerk will tell me I can have it for free, I just have to kill my neighbor's cat.

For a while I would visit Sound Exchange every week, mainly because I was afraid I'd be missing some great deal if I didn't go. But the store has gotten more popular and the deals have gotten scarcer, so I don't go nearly as often. That, I think, is why Needful Things decided to punish me.

On Wednesday I went out to Borders with my girlfriend, and I bought the Something Weird's disc of the movie Something Weird (1968). I'm pretty sure that at the very least it will live up to it's name. The next day I went to Sound Exchange, and they had the same DVD for half the price I paid. Clearly, this was a message from Needful Things that I should not forsake them.
