Mon - November 27, 2006Sun - November 12, 2006Stomp Tokyo's 10th Anniversary!This week marks the 10th anniversary of Stomp
Tokyo. If you want to read more about that, check out Chris' retrospective.
What does that mean for this blog? Well, the big thing is that I'm going to be posting all my genre TV and movie reviews at the new relaunched Stomp Tokyo 2.0. (Stomp Tokyo 0.2 if you're a Cyberman.) Obviously, that takes away most of what I was doing here. I'm planning on changing the purpose, and name, of this blog in the near future. I also want to switch over to Wordpress, but if that sounds familiar it's because I tried it before and failed spectacularly. Maybe I'll have better luck this time. Posted at 09:28 PM Tue - September 19, 2006Mon - September 11, 2006Stomp Tokyo Podcast #30I always seem to forget to link to them here,
but there's a new Stomp Tokyo Podcast up tonight.
Posted at 10:53 PM Sun - January 22, 2006Cult Movies Podcast #12We have just posted the 12th Cult Movies
Podcast here. This is actually our third attempt to
record a podcast with Chris Magyar. The first was killed by bad audio quality,
and the second fell victim to technical difficulties, assuming you count not
hitting the record button a technical difficulty. What I'm trying to say is that
Magyar is our good luck
charm.
Anyhoo, in the episode we talk about William Shatner's secretions and the history of Snuff. Posted at 10:32 PM Mon - January 9, 2006Cult Movies Podcast #11We just posted our newest podcast, Chris and I are joined by Dr. Freex of
the Bad Movie Report. Subjects include why there was no podcast #10 (we suck),
and what the most anticipated movie of next year is
(Snakes on a
Plane). Also, Chris interviews Noel
Gross.
One thing I'm kind of sad we lost on episode #10 was a really good point Chris Magyar made about the upcoming Gamera movie, Gamera: The Little Braves. As you can see in the trailer, the name of the turtle that grows up to be Gamera is "Toto." While I never made the connection, Magyar noted that that may be a Wizard of Oz reference, and the whole thing may be a dream. I think he may be right. Posted at 11:19 PM Mon - December 26, 2005New Stomp Tokyo Review - Magic Christmas TreeWith a couple hours to we posted Stomp Tokyo's
Christmas review, Magic Christmas Tree. I wonder, are there many
other Chirstmas movies that start on Halloween?
Posted at 09:17 PM Wed - December 21, 2005Cult Movies Podcast #7As per usual I'm a couple days behind, but the
newest Cult Movies Podcast is up here . In it we consider just how inaccurate a
movie's title can possibly be, and fix all of Hollywood's problems. Also,
Shatner; Is there anything he can't do?
Posted at 10:57 PM Thu - December 15, 2005Cult Movies Podcast #6I forgot to mention it a couple of days ago,
but the 6th episode of the Cult Movies Podcast when live here. In this episode I make a totally funny
joke about Suddenly
Susan that Chris probably edited
out.
I'm thinking about doing a supplementary podcast for this blog. I want to get better at that kind of public speaking, and the only way I'm going to do that is by practicing. I also want to learn the technical end of things. I''ll probably use GarageBand, at least until I find something better. Posted at 10:00 PM Mon - December 5, 2005New Cult Movies PodcastThe fifth Cult Movies Podcast is up here. I actually think we're
getting better at this. The technical aspects are still rough, but I think the
chatter is a lot better in this one. Hear my random thoughts on classic Pam
Grier films. (As if there were any other kind.)
Posted at 11:10 PM Mon - November 28, 2005Fourth Podcast UpThe fourth Cult Movies Podcast is up here. It
only sounds like we have monkeys working the mixing board. We wish! Monkeys
would bring a level of competence to the proceedings we're frankly not capable
of.
Posted at 10:01 PM Sun - November 27, 2005Catching UpJust a couple of new things to mention. Last
week we posted our third Cult Movies Podcast. We still have daunting
technical issues to solve, but I think we're getting better. The fourth one
should be up soon.
I took the time to write a review of Paul Schrader's Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist (2005), a movie that's far more interesting as the subject of a story that it is as a story. God save us from boring non-horror horror movies. I think my next big review may be of Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs. It isn't much of a movie, but I like writing about 1970's Japanese sleaze. Posted at 08:22 PM Sun - November 20, 2005What I've learned from FrapprMy Frappr map has been an interesting exercise. For
example, this blog is apparently huge in Scandinavia. I guess people living in
northers Norway get up in the morning, look at the frozen hellscape right
outside their windows, and then decide to read that blog where a guy takes cheap
shots at Mel Gibson. Can't say I blame them. I wouldn't want to go outside
either. I live in Florida. If the temperature drops below 60 degree Fahrenheit,
I start breaking up furniture for firewood.
Posted at 10:38 PM Thu - November 17, 2005Frappr Map for This BlogTake a minute and indicate where you are on
this map. You don't even need to create a login
if you don't want to. I'm just curious where the people who read this
are.
Posted at 11:03 PM Mon - November 14, 2005Our New PodcastYou can find Stomp Tokyo's first attempt at a
podcast here. We promise we'll get better at it,
really.
