Joe Bob Briggs @ The Sarasota Film Festival

Yesterday I went with Chris to go see b-movie expert/personality Joe Bob Briggs (actually John Bloom) at the 2004 Sarasota Film Festival.

He was spoke a little bit about the place b-movies have in our culture, and spent a while discussing the MPAA rating system. He was at the fest to introduce Blood Feast (1963), but we didn't stay around for that excruciatingly bad film.

We did buy copies of Briggs' new book, Profoundly Disturbing: Shocking Movies That Changed History! and get them signed. I've read a few chapters, and it's a terrific book. It's only covers a few landmark movies, but covers them completely in terms of cultural impact and the behind the scenes stories.
